Hi! We are Fran and Dave - the creators of Hemp Co Australia.
We know how difficult it can be trying to find products that are naturally better for you, aren’t full of toxins, parabens or synthetic ingredients, and that actually work. We spent years trying to find natural products when we had to remove all toxins from our home while struggling to fall pregnant. And while we did use some natural products, we never really saw any great results or benefits from them.
We started to research what products we could use that were good for us and our soon-to-be baby. And as we did, we learned more and more about the impacts on our health and wellbeing caused by synthetic ingredients and toxins found in skincare and around the home. We knew that even after we had children we didn’t want to go back to our old products and skincare routine. Although mind you, Dave only used whatever Fran put in the bathroom.
So, between parenting our two gorgeous children and our careers as a Youth Counsellor (Fran) and a Builder (Dave), we researched and tested many products that would help bring a glow back to our tired and weary skin. We were ready to give up, until we finally learned about the amazing properties of Hemp Seed Oil, as well as the health benefits of many other natural ingredients.
We enlisted the help of a very clever chemist Adam McGlone. Together, starting with the hero ingredient of Hemp Seed Oil, we researched additional ingredients that were both unique and powerful, and that skin would actually LOVE. Because we know how important it is to take care of the skin that you are in.
We knew that we needed to create a range that would benefit every body and every face, every day. And the result was Hemp Co’s range of skin care and beard care products that are all natural, completely vegan, and that are totally toxin free. A range that is better for you and your skin or beard.

Our products all do what they say - they nourish and sooth your skin, or your beard. Yes, our products are basically THE unicorn of skincare. Except that they are real. And they work.
And brilliantly, our products are made right here in Melbourne (our home), by another local small business.

When we aren’t dreaming up beautiful skin care that hydrates, brightens and soothes your skin, or enriching beard care to nourish and tame your beautiful beard hair, we also work as a Youth Counsellor (Fran) and as a Builder (Dave).
“My skin has changed so much over the years. In my teens I experienced acne and was even bullied for my skin. In my 20s, I was carefree and loved being in the sun a little too much. During pregnancy it became dry and irritated, and post-children it changed again, with daily breakouts!
It wasn’t until I used Hemp Seed Oil in a moisturiser, that I finally found a product that my skin really liked. The only problem was, this moisturiser was also full of nasty ingredients that I didn’t want to put on my skin. This is why we wanted to create a good quality, natural and intensive daily moisturiser that was only full of the good stuff. Because I didn’t want to have to worry anymore about what I was putting on my skin.
A big part of my role as counsellor is also about educating people to take time out and do things for themselves and practice self-care. This can be achieved through a beautiful, yet simple skin care routine. I try to have a bath or sit and read a book while I let my Hemp Clay Mask soak in, although mostly I’m chasing the kids and forgetting to take it off. Plus we know that when your skin is healthy and glowing on the outside, you can feel more confident and radiant on the inside.
Dave and I spent a lot of time with our Chemist trying to create the perfect balance of natural ingredients across a range of products that would actually work and support all skin types through all stages. And we finally did it. We can’t wait to see what you think.”
“I've been a Carpenter since 2004 and a Residential Builder since 2015.
One thing that I have come to realise in almost 20 years of Building, is that it's a tough gig on both your body and on your mind. However the rewards that come from transforming people's lives by creating a high performance home for them, makes it all worthwhile.
Being onsite (both on and off the tools) means that my body is constantly being exposed to many elements that are not conducive to maintaining my once youthful good looks.
In fact, the typical skincare ranges that I've used in the past have often been useless when it comes to relieving the annoying irritating symptoms of dry skin caused by dirty earmuffs, safety goggles, dust and wood shavings, plaster dust, brickies cement and ... well, the list goes on. This has meant that I look a little more rugged these days, but most people in this industry look the same.
Having kids has changed my perspective on many areas in my life.
I now know the importance of prioritising my personal wellbeing and looking after myself inside and out so I can be the best father, husband, brother, son, friend, colleague and bossman that I can be, day in and day out. I know that if I look good, I feel good. It’s as simple as that.
This is why I wanted to create a range of skin care products for both men and women (with the help of my partner in crime - Fran), that would help anyone overcome the daily annoyances on their skin. I wanted to help people treat themselves, be the best that they can be and to help them take care of their skin, because I know that if they do it now, then their future skin will thank them for it later!
